Blizzard X: Afro-Celtic Convergence

African fabrics and celtic quilting patterns combine to striking effect. The fabrics are both African imports and American fabrics with African motifs and designs.

The quilting motifs are both traditional celtic designs and personal interpretations of celtic designs by quilter Dana Lacy Chapman. Once again, Dana has really pulled out all the stops with the quilting!

Recently, this quilt was exhibited hanging from the ceiling so that both side of the piece were visible - wow!

$1,200

This photo shows some of the striking quilting designs - notice how each fabric has it's own quilting pattern! I am especially fond of the circles of quilting that cover the striped fabric in the center block.
This is a section of the back of the quilt, which shows the extensive quilting - this photo only covers approximately a 6 inch section!

This is the back of the quilt. Notice the black border - you can see how much of the quilting in that section shows.

The center of the quilt back is comprised of blocks of 12 different African batiks, stenciled, hand-painted and printed fabrics.
